But today was our special day.

And what a day it was!

The most memorable day of my life started at 6am. Which was slightly unfortunate as I’d only got to bed at 5am! We were supposed to be going to the Maternity ward to get Rach induced at 6pm, but she decided to go natural 12 hours early. We arrived at the ward by 7am, were in the delivery suite (after lots of huffing, puffing and screaming) by 11am and Ben was born at 12:08pm. Rach did a fantastic job with no pain relief and I’m proud that she’s the Mum of my Son. She, without a shadow of a doubt, will be a fantastic mother and no one could ask for any more than that.

As for Ben well he’s just gorgeous. The midwife nicknamed him Bruno cos he looked like a boxer. He’s a big fella at 9lb 2oz and looks a bit like a rugby player with a big neck and shoulders and his little cauliflower lugs! He (at the moment at least) is fairly quiet. He didn’t cry until 40 mins after he was born when the midwife weighed him in, and all day has only cried about 4 or 5 times just for a few seconds. A stroke on the cheek seems to shut him up almost instantly. I hope it lasts! He’s got a great trump on him and after crapping on the midwife, filled several nappies besides. There’s another BIG Newton trait he’s inherited other than first class trumps, but I leave that one to the lucky ladies in around 16 years time to find out for themselves!

I really ought to be going to bed now. Appart from 1 hours kip I’ve now been up for 40 hours. It was really difficult leaving Rach & Ben behind tonight and I can’t wait to see them both in the morning.

Well, he’s still not here so tomorrow it’s off to the hospital to get Rach induced and get Ben’s butt into gear. I’m so buzzing. I can’t wait. Tomorrow I might be a DAD! WOO YAY HOUPLA!
