House prices through the roof.

New house vs No house
£70 million would be enough to solve the nations homeless problem for a few years, or perhaps spent on renovating the empty houses.
Have you seen the houses down the parkway recently?
There’s several burned out and many boarded up.
If only some of the homeless were given the chance to have these houses and help to do them up, it would improve the area and they’d also have a greater pride of their surroundings.
There’s a lot of people out there that need a chance, and can’t get it.

Today it´s pissing down.

1

And yesterday it was raining :0(

But we´re having fun, and as Wez says, there´s been plenty of action on webmaster newt´s wallet :0|

I´ve also been kept amused by the number of links to BBC news articles Wez has been posting. Something for which I usually get slated. Obviously things are slow at The Register, Disinfo and wehategeorgedubbya.com!

FairTrade soars in the UK

0

FairTrade. Farmers picking base products such as cocao, tea or coffee are paid a pittance by the massive multinationals - nestle, cadburys etc. and choices have to be made whether to make your children work to be able to afford to eat, or starve.
Fairtrade gives a better deal to the farmers by paying them better money. This is done via collectives of small local farmers, where the whole community benefits.
Plus, the tea and coffee taste much nicer.

BBC article
Sales of so-called fair trade products grew by more than 50% in the UK last year, according to figures released by the Fairtrade Foundation. UK shoppers spent £140m on goods bearing the Fairtrade logo last year. The foundation said UK consumers now supported the concept of fair trade more than in any other country

And this was on the front page on Friday (won”t let me add it as a comment either)
Follow Up
“Maxine Carr has won her High Court battle for life-long anonymity at a cost of £50-million - the same amount North East Lincolnshire homeowners will pay in council tax next year.”
So I apologise for only putting 1.5 million. I was only 48.5 million short. :|

New Version of FireFox

0

There’s a new version of Firefox released for all you newts dot netters.
Version 1.0.1 addresses some security issues, and if you’re still using Internet Explorer:

“Firefox has been widely praised for its stability, trustworthiness and innovative features including tabbed browsing, live bookmarks, built-in pop-up blocking, and hundreds of available extensions. SC Magazine, a leading security magazine, recently awarded the Mozilla Foundation with its Editor in Chief award. The browser has been downloaded more than 27 million times and is available in 28 languages.”
Not the clint eastwood film

I’ve been using this for about 8 months now, and its a gorgeous browser, especially with tabbed browsing, and its so simple, even Bov uses it. : )

Don’t forget, there’s also Thunderbird, which is an e-mail client (replaces Outlook/Express) and several other open source programs such as open office.

There’s also other add-ons
and buttons you can get for firefox to make surfing the web so much easier.

Make the switch, and tell all your friends about it. Best of all, its free!

Happy Birthday to Oli and his twin sister Sophie. Oli’s partying it up in Lincoln, and I don’t know what Sophies doing. You should never ask a lady her age, but Oli’s 27. :)

Maxine in the news

1

So, Maxine Carr (see Ian Huntley) has had to go to court to protect her identity. This time its at a cost of around £10,000, most of that going to solicitors and court costs.
Oh yeah, its our money as well.

So far, its cost around 1.5 million to protect her from the minority of Sun readers and Sky News watchers that want to have a piece of her. I know where she lives and works, and I haven’t got a problem with that.

She stood by the manipulative man that she loved as she thought she was doing the right thing. I’d say most of the people that want her ‘away’ would have done (or have done) exactly the same thing. I’d stand behind Toni all the way.

We obviously don’t feel the same way towards Rose West or Harold Shipmans widow, and they may have been well aware what was going on. Does it make a difference that two little girls were killed and not 200 grannies?

Compared to the likes of Fuhrer Bush & Herr Blair (upto 100,000 Iraqi’s needlessly killed, beating the murderous dictator all round bad guy Saddam’s estimated death toll), it is, quite literally, fuck all, but I don’t see people sending death threats to these guy’s do you?

The newts dot net is a blog, where we can express our thoughts and fears, our opinions. Us. Anyone in the world can do this, but in some countries the governments don’t like what you write. In China, they just shutdown the servers hosting the blogs. In Iran, they throw the bloggers in prison.
Today, blogs all over the world are uniting to free Arasg and Mojtaba.
Arash Sigarchi and Mojtaba Saminejad are both in prison in Iran, for expressing their thoughts.

BBC News article
“People are calling on the blogsphere - the name for the worldwide community of bloggers - to do what it can to help raise awareness of the plight of Mojtaba and Arash as well as other “cyber-dissidents”.”

Welcome to thewez.net

So, your delightful hostmaster is jetting off to sunny portugal and I’ll be taking over the reins and keeping your interest from waning. Well, I say jetting off…

Rach felt sick a few nights ago and then was in pain and vomiting. She was taken to hospital (thank you superbov, whereever you are) and was given pethodone or something. After experiencing the joys of powerful class a narcotics, she was up and feeling OK the next day, but the hospital are still unsure of where the pain is. I said he was outside having a fag. :)

She was in there last night again and I’m just awaiting news if any of whats happening. We don’t think its too serious, but if it’s a gall stone or an infection of some sort, she may not be allowed to fly.

Scott can’t go on his own with Ben, so its looking like there is 1 spare ticket available to spend 2 weeks in Portugal with Newts. Available to the highest bidder.
I’ll look after Rach as well as your site newts. :)

Get well soon Rach, and if it is gall stones, ask to have them put in a jar for keeping!

so I thought I’d take the romance floating around in the air and use it to propose to the love of my life.
Jimmy Page wasn’t about, so I asked Toni instead. :)
She said :loved:yes:loved:, and so we’re now engaged to be married.
I’ve already told The Grimsby Evening TeleGaz, so some of you who read this will already know anyway, but I thought I’d bring it to the attention of the hottest homepage in Healing, thenewts.net.

Unfortunately, after several hundred simultaneous presses of the ON / OFF button by little Ben’s BIG FAT fingers, the internal power supply unit (psu) of newts’s power pc has blown up! At least I hope that’s all that’s blown up!! So the pc is in the workshop for a new supercharged psu. I hope it won’t be there for too long, I’ve got hatfulls of updates for you newts dot netters.

What made it especially painful was I was just on the verge of completing our latest masterpiece. Remember that townie scumbag Wesley Brown and his piss taking song Healing World? Well soon, very very soon, he’ll be hit with the riposte. Once I get my pc back there is a small amount of editing to do to finish this fantastic project and then we will be premiering it locally. Once it’s been seen by all involved and all law suits have been settled with Wez, you will be able to download this work of art for free right here at the newts dot net. I was hoping to premiere this Saturday but that looks out now Ben’s had his fingers in the pc, but watch this space, because as soon as that pc gets back to me, you’ll be able to download our best work yet right here ;0)

In the mean time, I’ll try and get the odd post in here and there from whoever’s computer I can get my hands on! And you never know, Wez might even post some quality mirth while I’m awol.
