Beagle 2… Mission to Mars.

Beagle 2 Mars Lander.

Gutted. I was so looking forward to watching a tv program about the Beagle 2 Mars lander mission on Christmas day, couldn’t wait to see the live pics, both from mission control and the surface of Mars, feel the tension and watch the faces of all those involved who have invested years of work and dedication to the project, and there isn’t even a program on about it on Christmas day!?! I can’t beleive it. Surely they can find a spot between Jason and the Argonauts and Muppet show to fit it in the schedule! This amazing achievement of British engineers, designers and scientists that, lets face it could well go tits up at the last minute (which would make amazing tv too), and it’s all happening live and we can’t find a slot for it amongst our 4 / 5 terrestrial channels and infinite sattelite and cable channels? Bad show I reckon, damn bad show.

Oh that’s pretty damn sweet. I’d love to be involved with a project like this it must be such a buzz. Not only do you get to fuck about with robots and state of the art electronics all day, you then get to play with rockets, send it off to Mars, and fingers crossed, see the fruits of your labour beem pictures of Mars 50 million miles through space so that we can see never before seen glimpses of the red planet. And what do we get? 14 episodes of Friends and a Red Dwarf! Much as I love Red Dwarf, I’d rather be seeing the real thing.
Big up to Dan’s mate, and I hope all goes well.
