South Parade - Northern Soul.

The Lads of South Parade have had a trip across to Leeds to record their song Northern Soul in a professional recording studio. It’s quite strange to hear a song that I’ve heard so many times live - mixed down in a studio and professionally recorded. You know, things usually work the other way round. You hear a band’s recording and THEN go to see them live!

Oliver Newton from the Grimsby band South Parade.

It’s turned out great. Oli and the band took a load of pictures during the recording so I made them into a montage type video with over 50 pics of James, Tim, Shaun & Oli in the recording studio to accompany the soundtrack.

So more free music downloads for you to enjoy…

Great work Scott! That’s class mate.

I feel it’s my place here to give credit where it’s due : the song was recorded and mixed by Jonathan Birch at CLC studios in Leeds.

We had assumed that we’d have to wait a few days/weeks to hear the finished result, but Jo’s unbelievably swift mixing fingers enabled us to walk out of the studio with a CD on the day itself * (maybe thay should have got him to do Band Aid 20).

Add to that Scott Newts’ video editing skills, and it all meant that I was able to wake up this morning and download a completed song and session video, not one note of which had even been played 24 hours earlier. Result!

And finally : Jo has invited us to play with his band Wrestling Jacob and AB Negative at The Primrose in Leeds on Friday Feb 25th. South Parade will be on first so will have plenty of time to get plastered afterwards to celebrate Oli’s birthday. We’ll be staying over and maybe clubbing in Leeds etc so anyone who wants to come and make a night of it with us is more than welcome.

    Tara for a bit… Shaun

    * the rest of the band begrudgingy accept that the work of Timmy “One Take” Chapman may have had a lot to do with the quick turnaround time as well

Yeah, thanks for that Shaun, I did want to credit the Studio & Staff, but no one was available for comment at 4:55am this morning! You’ve covered it quite admirably for me. Ta.
