Some real classics here and being a big fan of 70’s toys that I collect as a hobby,
Makes my day seeing an appreciation of them on here, it has to be said that toys
nowadays don’t even come close in terms of quality or playability.
Here’s what the kids of today will miss : RAVING BONKERS (fighting robots by Marx)
ARNOLD PALMERS PRO SHOT GOLF (by Marx) K.O BOXING WITH A PUNCH
(By PARKER PALITOY & Extremely rare in any condition)
TREASURE OF THE PHARAOHS (by Palitoy) THE FASTEST GUN (by Denys Fisher)
TANK BATTLE (by mb games) and just a few of my own pieces in that collection of collections.
In time i’ll post some photos of my collectables and let you all into the big world of
ACTION MAN ;O) Original 60’s/70’s kind and NOT the new dross that is so crap in
every department, I have a website that I started a year or so ago but of late i’ll had very little input
This situation will have to be rectified but when I ask myself???? soon is all I can say!
Keep up the good work Senor Newt
Glad you like the site Aidy, welcome aboard the rapidly growing band of newts dot netters!
And yes, you are dead right… “toys
nowadays don’t even come close in terms of quality or playability”
Infact you are so right, I can’t even think of a modern toy! Yeah, computer games have come on infinitely over the past 10 years, but that means that kids nowadays are sat infront of Nintendo’s, PS II’s and X Box’s for hours a day, monging their lives away. Never knowing the thrill of physically landing that Harrier Jump Jet on the Super Flight Deck for the very 1st time. Or your 1st 5/5 on Tin Can Alley with witnesses. And don’t get me started on Bigtrak! You needed a phd in maths, a laser ruler, and an entire summer holiday to program it to go round the armchair, out the lounge door and back to the armchair again, but boy it was fun.
Action man was ace. I had a couple of Eagle Eyes, and how about the Action Man Sea Wolf Submarine! Not many of them about. I spent hours at my local park trolling that thing up and down the lake. Ahh, hazy days!
And Action Man today? Roller Blading Action Man?? Where did it all go so tragically wrong???
You mention some other great toys, I’d love to see your pictures. You can email me from the site (near the login) and I’ll see if I can get them posted for you.
Meanwhile thanks for your comments and enjoy the site Aidy,
newts.
